Flotation tests indicate that the effective depression of talc flotation occurred in the pH range of 7−9.
As shown in Table 3, when talc is the primary fluorine-carrying mineral, which naturally exhibits hydrophobicity, reverse flotation can be applied to separate talc by depressing copper sulfide minerals. In the case of the Ok Tedi mine, additional cleaner capacity has proven helpful in reducing fluorine removal efficiency.
